Friendswood Police Activity January 1 through 8, 2009

Driving While Intoxicated

January 8 (11:50 p.m.) – A 30-year-old Alvin man was charged with DWI after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 3200 block of W. Parkwood. He refused to participate in any form of testing.

January 5 (1:17 a.m.) – A 44-year-old Friendswood woman was charged with DWI after she was stopped for a traffic violation in the 500 block of W. Parkwood. She failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a breath test.


January 3 (2:21 a.m.) – A 40-year-old Friendswood man was charged with DWI and Resisting Transport. He was observed driving erratically in the 100 block of W. Parkwood. He failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a breath test. The man reportedly attempted to keep from being placed in the patrol car by pushing against the officer.

January 1 (2:02 a.m.) – A 25-year-old Fresno man was charged with DWI after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 17100 block of Blackhawk. He failed a field sobriety test and registered .155 on a breath test.

Narcotics

January 2 (2:52 a.m.) – A 17-year-old Friendswood youth was charged with Possession of Marijuana. The teen was riding a bicycle in the middle of the roadway without a light in the 100 block of Stratmore. He was found to be in possession of the drug.

January 1 (7:04 a.m.) – A 29-year-old Houston woman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. She was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of E. Edgewood. Officers observed marijuana in plain view in her vehicle. During an inventory of her property during booking, she also was found to be in possession of Xanex.

January 1 (4:49 a.m.) – A 30-year-old League City man was charged with Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. He was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of E. Parkwood. Officers observed a small plastic bag in the vehicle that showed powder residue. The powder tested positive for cocaine.

Domestic Violence

January 1 (4:33 p.m.) – Two teens, one age 17 and the other 19, were each charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Violence. The siblings got into an argument while driving. The argument escalated and became physical when the two stopped in the 100 block of E. Edgewood.

January 1 (7:32 a.m.) – A 24-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Assault by Contact – Family Violence after an argument with his wife turned physical. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Clearview.

Vandalism

January 1 (11:49 p.m.) – Several Christmas decorations were reported damaged at a home in the 3100 block of Autumn Leaf Drive in Autumn Creek subdivision.

Theft

January 8 (1:38 p.m.) – A resident of the 5000 block of Apple Blossom reported the theft of some family jewelry.

January 5 (3:33 p.m.) – A bicycle was reported stolen in the 2400 block of St. Augustine Lane in Boca Raton subdivision. The bicycle had been left in the unlocked garage. The bicycle is described as a black and red Haro bicycle.

January 2 (4:14 p.m.) – Jewelry was reported stolen from a resident living in the 700 block of W. Edgewood. The victim told police that sometime in September he allowed a family member to use his truck while he was out of town. The jewelry had been locked in the truck. He believes the jewelry was taken during that time and he has been unsuccessful in locating it.

Burglary

January 2 (9:11 p.m.) – A vehicle was burglarized while parked at the First Baptist Church, 111 E. Heritage Drive. A wallet was stolen from the vehicle and a bank card used at a Houston store. A window was smashed to gain entry to the vehicle.

Miscellaneous

January 6 (2:20 a.m.) – A 23-year-old Houston man was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 400 block of W. Edgewood. During the traffic stop officers observed a handgun in the car. The man was detained and when a computer check revealed that he had a felony conviction, he was charged.

January 3 (10:53 a.m.) – A 25-year-old Houston man was charged with Failure to Identify after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2400 block of Garnetfield Lane in West Ranch subdivision. The man initially provided officers with his cousin's name and told police he had no driver's license or vehicle insurance. Officers learned his true identity during the booking process. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was also placed on the man for further investigation.

January 2 (4:38 p.m.) – A 37-year-old man, was charged with Driving While License Invalid and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. He was stopped for a traffic violation in the 3700 block of FM 528 and found to have a suspended driver's license. During a search incident to arrest, officers found a 7-inch knife and a 19-inch club in the vehicle.

Identity Theft/Fraud

Victim's social security number used to open a satellite TV account

Victim's debit card information used to make purchases in Sherman, TX

Victim's previously unused debit card was used to make purchases in Wylie, TX

Victim's Visa bankcard information used to make internet purchases. Victim had used the bankcard multiple times over the Christmas season.

Victim's bank account information used to create fake checks

Company's credit card information used to make online purchases

Arrests
