Support sought for green medians along FM 1960

By OBSERVER STAFF REPORTS
Updated: 01.06.09
The Green Medians Steering Committee is calling on citizens and business owners to ensure that the new medians going up along FM 1960 are green not gray.

The committee, which is made up business owners who belong to the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, believes the green of grass and other vegetation will go a long way in revitalizing the FM 1960 area.

Unless the community raises funds to landscape and beautify the medians, then TxDOT will construct them with concrete or asphalt when the project is completed in August.

The specific medians are located between the Mills and Gatewick communities, east of I-45 and west of Highway 249.

Tax deductible donations are payable to Green Medians - Houston Chamber of Commerce Foundations, 14511 Falling Creek, Suite 205, Houston, TX 77014.

" They need to do this every place Like when you are coming up on a lake they need to make the Bridge BLUE and if it a pond it needs to green and if you are driving next to a field it need to be a green so people will know that is is GRASS the GRAY is really not that safe cause it blends into the road .And they need to do this all over TEXAS and the Medians need to be a little taller when you are driving on the free way things fly over and cause you to jerk you wheels and that causes Accidents. They also need to have Reflectors on the Medians painted on would be the best. There is a lot of people out there on the Highways and Streets Driving and something like that could save a LIFE .I live on the other side of 1960 east and there is a lot of wrecks out here to anything better for US Texans I am all for that .I know the POLICE department any of them would love for this to happen .The reflectors that are on the road end up coming up and then when people run over them they in up airborn and hitting someones vehicle and who do you go after . If they change the color they need some how to make paint that you cant paint or spray paint on so the kids cant come a draw on it and to take it off it has to power washed off . "
