Shell FCU giving back to community with raffle

Updated: 11.20.08
Shell Federal Credit Union is giving back to their local communities through their Redo My Room contest, FCU (Furthering Community Unity) Team and a Holiday Raffle Fundraiser.

Redo My Room offers anyone 14- 25 who lives, works, attends church or school in Harris County the opportunity to win $1,000 to redo their room. Individuals need not be a Shell FCU member but must submit a video less than two minutes explaining why they need a room makeover.

The grand prize of $1,000 would mean a lot to any individual but would mean the most to Hurricane Ike victims. The first video submitted was from someone affected by the hurricane.

“The video was touching and really showed what a need there is for us to be involved in the community,” said Angela Head, Shell FCU Vice President of Marketing/IT.

For complete Redo My Room contest details visit www.helpredomyroom.com. Deadline for entries is Dec. 1 and public voting begins on Dec. 2.

The FCU Team is helping rebuild communities by volunteering in such activities as Habitat for Humanity, walks and blood drives. To date, the team has donated 213 hours and raised $2,180.15. Events are scheduled several months in advance and Credit Union members, students and the general community are urged to get involved. For more information, go to www.sfcuilife.org and click on Upcoming Events.

Shell FCU is also hosting a Holiday Raffle Fundraiser. Tickets will be available beginning November 17 through Dec 15 at any Shell FCU branch and from any Shell FCU employee. Tickets are $1 each or you can purchase six tickets for $5. Prizes include: Apple iPhone, Magellan GPS, portable DVD player, gift cards and many other items.

All proceeds will benefit the “charity of choice” from each branch:

Deer Park and Deer Park High School branches — The Gift of Christmas, Deer Park.

Fairmont branch — Project Joy and Hope; Pasadena.

La Porte branch — Boys and Girls Harbor, La Porte.

Southmore and Sam Rayburn High School branches — Pasadena Habitat for Humanity.

If you wish to join Shell FCU in their efforts toward giving back to local communities, get involved in their sponsored events listed at www.sfcuilife.org, or stop by any Shell FCU branch and purchase tickets for their Holiday Raffle fundraiser.
