Antique store owner sets up shop

| An antique wooden rocking horse greets customers at the Conroe Antique Mall. A large variety of items, including antique vanities, glasswork and fine china, can be found at the newly relocated Conroe Antique Mall, located at 201 Enterprise Row, Suite 15, in Conroe. |

Shedrack Amadi’s antique store in downtown Conroe was a success, but when he had to move in January because the building was demolished and turned into a parking lot, he thought he’d have to downsize.
Amadi’s new store, however, is bigger – and better.
“We’ve been around for many years in the community and we appreciate its support,” he said.
The newly named Conroe Antique Mall is located at 201 Enterprise Row, Suite 15.
“You can’t miss the sign for it,” he said with a laugh. “Even if you have your eyes closed, you’d probably still see it.”
Amadi needed more space for the store, and he wants to try a mall-type concept, where other dealers rent space and sell their wares.
He said he’s looking for dealers to sign up now.
“I want to make Conroe an antiques hunting location again,” he said.
Now is the time to shop for antiques, Amadi said.
“I get a lot of business at Christmastime,” he said. “A husband can buy a dress or furniture to surprise the wife, or the wife can find something here that the husband collects.”
For some items in Amadi’s shop, the value has increased with age; for others, the price is a bargain compared to department stores.
Popular items at this time of year include antique vanities, glassware, artwork and fine china.
“We get a lot of china sales for families to celebrate the season with and eat their holiday meals on,” he said.
The new store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Interested dealers can call Amadi at (936) 760-1566.
