Business collects toys, donations for kids with cancer

After watching her mom battle pancreatic and liver cancer, Jennifer Mihealsick is making sure children with different forms of cancer are taken care of this holiday season.
Mihealsick started The Noel Realty Group in memory of her mom, Judy Mihealsick, after she lost her battle with cancer and is dedicated to giving back to those affected by cancer.
The Noel Realty group is accepting toys and monetary donations for children at the Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson and the employees are encouraging anyone interested to get involved.
“Since we started the company, we have been very involved in helping people with cancer. Now that Christmas is right around the corner, we wanted to do something for those who cannot go home for the holidays and ensure they enjoy their holidays like everyone else,” Mihealsick said.
Mihealsick and her fundraising coordinator, Ian Stegman, have talked with local churches and businesses about donating to the hospital and donating toys.
There are about 25 children at the cancer hospital that will have to stay through the holidays as well as their siblings and family, so it is a manageable group of kids that The Noel Realty Group is providing for.
“Helping those with cancer is a part of our business so we are very excited to collect toys or donations for these children,” Mihealsick said.
Mihealsick added that the donated gifts have to be new or unused items, not wrapped, and age appropriate for elementary and middle school-aged children.
They also have an account set up for monetary donations at Wells Fargo Banks.
Besides donating to the Children’s Cancer Center at MD Anderson, Mihealsick plans to keep helping other groups and those in the community who are in need of help.
“This is something I have always wanted to do. My business is dedicated to my mom and I am glad we can make these children’s holidays that much more special,” she said. “Anyone who wants to help or join us is always welcome.”
