Aquatic team to hold registration

Space City Aquatic Teamf (SCAT) will be holding registration for new and existing members on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the League City pool, 450 W. Walker St. Time of the registration will be 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

SCAT is a year-round competitive swimming team serving the greater southeast Houston area. The team is a member of the Gulf Swimming LSC, a force in competitive swimming under the umbrella of the USA Swimming.

SCAT swimmers have represented the team at the Texas State Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS), Speedy Sectional Championships, USA Swimming Junior Nationals, US Open, USA Swimming Senior Nationals and at the collegiate level since 1977.

Bay Area Texas Baseball sign-up

Bay Area Texas Baseball will hold one final registration for the Fall 2008 season for baseball and t-ball for ages 5-18 (K through 12th grade).

The Registration will be on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Star Fire Grill (Bay Area Blvd. and Space Center Blvd.

There are no tryouts, everyone plays. All games are played at Dad’s Club park in Clear Lake (off highway 3 near Clear Lake City Blvd.

There are no fundraisers. BATB is a non-profit, recreational league serving Clear Lake and surrounding communities.

Lake boys golf fundraising tourney

The Clear Lake High Boys Golf Team fundraising tournament will be held at Bay Oaks Country Club on Monday, Sept. 8.

Entry fee is $100 per person or $375.

There will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. for the 4-person scramble.

The fee includes green fee, cart, range balls, box lunch, awards and dinner buffet catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

Contests will include longest drive and closest to the pin competition as well as Beat the Coach Hole.

Several sponsorships are available, from hole sponsor, skills sponsor, hospitality sponsor, major sponsor and title sponsor.

Clear Lake Ski

Club meeting

The Clear Lake Area Ski Club, a non-profit member operated snow ski club, will host a new member kick-off meeting on Sept. 5.

The meeting will be held at TAD Akers, 218 Clear Creek Avenue in League City. Time of the meeting will be 6:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in snow skiing, snowboarding and other activities is invited.

Fun, Fair soccer registration

Registration for Fun, Fair, Positive Soccer (FFPS) is open for the fall season.

All boys and girls ages 4-18 are eligible to sign up. Games begin Oct. 11.

All FFPS games are played locally with one practice a week. All players get a full uniform and trophy and equal playing time, coed/balanced teams and more. No tryouts are required.

Ellington Rams youth football

The Ellington Rams youth football team has openings for players in its senior division (ages 11-13).

Those interested should call Mike Gonzales at 832-495-7345 or they can sign up daily prior to 6 p.m. practice at Wilson Memorial Park, 100 Gilpin in Houston, 77034.

Walk MS: Houston 2008 in Kemah

Nearly 4,000 walkers are expected to participate in the September walks for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter.

The series of walks will take place Sept. 20, Sept. 27-28 in several areas including Kemah on Sept. 20.

The Kemah walk will be held in the Kemah Boardwalk. The event will include one-mile walk and 5K routes. It will also feature breakfast, live entertainment, door prizes and discounts on admission to the Boardwalk’s amusement park the day of the walk.

There is no cost to participate and registration is available until 8 a.m. on the day of the event.

Funds are raised through corporate sponsorships and individual and team walkers who obtain donations and pledges from family, friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Dragon Boat Regatta in Clear Lake Park

The Texas Dragon Boat Association announced that the 2008 Dragon Boat Regatta will be held along the banks of Pasadena Lake in Clear Lake Park Oct. 18-19.

Up to 50 teams are expected to compete in both amateur and experienced team divisions.
