Cleveland police officers were dispatched last week to the emergency room at Cleveland Regional Medical Center after a 35-year-old man, Steven Martin, of Cleveland, arrived there with stab wounds.
Martin told police that he had been stabbed at a home at 202 M Street in Cleveland.
Officer Kevin Cooke went to the M Street home to investigate and was met by Leon Stowe, 69, of Cleveland. Stowe reportedly told police that a fight between he and Martin had occurred and that he had stabbed Martin.
The police report states that Stowe claims the altercation with Martin was the result of Martin confronting him about having a sexual relationship with Martin’s girlfriend.
While at the home, Cooke noticed marijuana and prescription drug bottles in plain view. Detectives Scott Felts and Jim Cooper were called to the scene to help with the investigation. Stowe reportedly refused to allow the officers to search the home, so the officers were forced to obtain a search warrant.
After doing so, they entered the home and discovered a large quantity of prescription pill bottles and $800 in cash, in addition to the marijuana that had been discovered earlier.
They also found a safe in the home and a security system.
Stowe has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. At this time, no charges have been filed against Martin, though further charges are pending.
